Diet
No grains. No corn. No soy. No GMO’s. No pesticides. No harmful chemicals. Our cattle enjoy the ability to roam and graze on fresh, green pasture with a supplement of locally grown grass hay in the winter months. Our cows are grass fed from start to finish. They are treated humanely and receive no antibiotics or hormones.
Their Roll
Our cattle are essential tools in building healthy and vibrant soils on our farm. We graze our cattle using Managed Intensive Rotational Grazing techniques. We move our cattle to fresh pasture on a daily basis. This accomplishes 4 things. First, our cows always have access to the highest quality forages, which provide optimal growth and development. Second, it allows for the even distribution of manures, which efficiently recycles the nutrients and feeds our dung beetles and earthworms. Third, by moving our cattle daily, the parasitic chain is broken; thus naturally reducing the number of parasitic worms and flies that would attack our cattle, and reducing the need for chemical wormers and fly sprays that are harmful to soil, insects, and microbes. Lastly, this grazing allows grass to grow through its cycle. If everyone practiced this pattern, we’d sequester all of the carbon that’s been emitted in the industrial age in fewer than 10 years. Fertile soils of the world have been built with herbivores.
